Leaving the nest

These past few days have been great. The weather has been perfect, and we've been trying to get out and enjoy as much as we can. Being new parents, we take what I call the Cinderalla approach to leaving the house. Kieran can go about 2.5 to 3 hours in between feedings, so we have to time things perfectly to avoid something much worse than turning into a pumpkin. I compare it to launching the space shuttle. There's a small window of opportunity and a lot of things have to go right to make it work.

First we have to figure out when his next feeding window is and then figure out if it coincides with B's pumping schedule. When the time comes, B goes and handles mommy business while I feed, change and strap him into his car seat. Finally, we're off and the clock starts to tick because when that clock strikes "midnight" our little man turns into a raging, frothing lunatic. It's rather funny to watch, but it's nerve racking to go through. It's like he's never seen food!

So what have done over the past week. We went to gym a few times. We've gone for walks around the lake a few times. We went to the mall. We have even gone out to lunch twice. This brings me to our story of the day.

A side not before we begin, B's burping him right now and he keeps letting out what sounds like "wolf" howls. If daddy could only figure out the video posting thing!

Anyways, Tuesday we decided to go to the Mellow Mushroom for lunch. They have great outside seating, and it was a beautiful day. We sat down under a nice shade tree and ordered some food. Five minutes in and what happens? Screeching tires and BANG! Yep, witness to two car accidents in less than 1 week's time. Someone was making a left out of the neighboring Starbucks and apparently wasn't paying attention.

Luckily no one was hurt, but we're starting to wonder if he has some weird magnetic pull when it comes to vehicles. Maybe we have a little The Omen on our hands... "Damien! It's all for you Damien!"

As it turns out, Bhavika is developing a magnetic pull of her own (remember the golden nugget?). Shortly after the accident. A little birdy high in the tree had an "accident" of their own that hit Bhavika in the arm. "Watch out for the bird mommy!"

Luckily the rest of lunch went off without a hitch. Kieran slept through the entire thing, and we made it home before our time expired. It was a well executed plan.

"Mmmm! I wish I had teeth!"

Believe it or not, but this is the first picture that we have of the three of us!
